A valuable addition to Riverside
Before working with KOMPAN, Riverside Intermediate School in Indiana had plenty of sports areas where the children could compete against each other but zero playgrounds for more social play. The choice quickly landed on KOMPAN because of its innovative design and numerous inclusive equipment options, like sensory play equipment.
The school serves children with disabilities and special needs, and the new playground had been the reason why some of these children have been included in the play. After only a short amount of time everyone agrees – they are not done building KOMPAN playgrounds!
"It really facilitates making new friendships, building those relationships, and those kids who are a little slower to warm up, a little slower to get involved, and feel comfortable enough to reach out to other kids have a place they can go rather than sit and be isolated."
Amy Samuelson - Parent-Teacher Organisation
A place for fun!
This themed nature playground includes tons of different equipment, ensuring there is something for everyone!
The numerous spinning playground pieces area hit, especially the Supernova. This slanted, rotating feature is a great way for students to challenge their balance, either by standing or sitting, while also having fun. Multiple children can safely play at the same time, making it perfect for group playing and friend-building.
All children are included in play on the wooden swing set. This is made possible through the combination of different types of swings. Whether children want to swing alone on a standard swing or join in with several students on the basket swing, everyone can be part of the fun in their own way. In addition to the social benefits, swinging evolves the children’s ABCs: agility, balance, and coordination as well as their spatial awareness.
Students also love the access to playground exercise equipment, including a special wooden obstacle course for kids and different pieces of balancing playground equipment. These pieces are a great way to improve balance and coordination, and all the physical play makes the children ready for class after their outdoor break.
The playground has been such an improvement for the school that the kids are demanding to know what additions will be next! A massive wooden castle or pirate ship? A thrilling playground zipline? The possibilities for Riverside Intermediate are endless, and the same applies to your school. Reach out to us today to collaborate on providing your students with the playgrounds of their dreams!
