Playground Maintenance and Repair Guide
How do you maintain an outdoor playground?
Congratulations! You have chosen a high-quality product that, with proper maintenance, will withstand the test of time and many years of use.
As the owner, you are responsible for maintaining the playground and its surroundings to ensure all play structures remain safe. In order to protect children's safety and enhance the play experience, a regular maintenance routine must be in place once your outdoor playground is installed. A proper playground maintenance routine involves everything from regular cleaning and upkeep of the grounds to scheduled playground inspections, checking for hazards, ensuring the equipment is in working condition, and making any necessary equipment updates, repairs, or replacements.
How to play safe
Cleaning
A clean playground is a safe playground. Ensure litter, debris, and leftover food are removed from the playground to prevent injuries and control pests. You should also ensure adjacent areas and walkways are clean and accessible as well. We recommend cleaning of the play space to be carried out on a daily basis.
Maintenance
Over time, some bolts may become loose through heavy use, and play structures can become undone or wobbly. When this happens, loose components can cause a dangerous pinch, crush, or cut. Therefore, all nuts, bolts, fasteners, and screws must be checked periodically to maintain a safe playground environment for all.
Repairs
Occasionally, parts may need to be repaired due to breakage or wear. These items must be addressed immediately to avoid dangerous conditions. All equipment repairs should be completed following maintenance manual instructions. If broken equipment is not immediately repairable, action must be taken to restrict access to the play structure.
Why is regular playground maintenance important?
Timely playground inspections and maintenance are vital for ensuring the safety of children visiting the playground. Additionally, while all KOMPAN play structures are carefully designed and manufactured with safety features in compliance with current standards, following our maintenance instructions is also necessary for the products to be covered by the KOMPAN General Warranty.

Doing so will help to maintain the safety and integrity of the play space.
When is the right time to replace playground equipment?
1. An unused playground is a clear sign that you need to consider updating your playground equipment or that your playground is out of date.
2. You receive complaints from concerned parents or users of the playground, which is a clear sign that there is a safety issue to be addressed.
3. There is broken equipment beyond repair. If this is the case, it's time to call in the playground or maintenance experts.
