What are Playground Structures?

A commercial playground set is a large outdoor structure for children of all ages to enjoy. Commercial playground sets or multi play units are often the centre piece in the playground and attract children due to their size and scale.

With playground structures that range from toddlers to teens all age groups are catered for within our range and with the use of different materials and themes we can suit all sites and budgets. Multi Play units help define a play area and give it a focal point that children will be keen to return to. Each play system offers a fun, challenging solution that will help children learn new skills and socialise together. With castles, ships, our innovative climbing range BLOQX , GIANT Structures or our SMART Playground inspired by the fairytales of Hans Christian Andersen each of our play systems is a statement of fun!

    Benefits of Playground Structures

Our range of play systems cover a broad range of activities and our designs are focused on child development as while playing on our sets is great fun it can also help develop important skills such as balance, co-ordination, physical strength and communication skills.

If your play area has a theme play structures can enhance this - units from our Castles or Ships range can help you bring your theme to reality and our design team can advise on any changes that can be made to the units.

The Importance of Play in Child Development

To ensure our equipment continues to meet the needs of all children we carry out extensive research through our in-house research department - the KOMPAN Play Institute. Their aim is to get the most out of the play experience in terms of social and physical development. Play might seem like just fun but it is vital for building social, communication and motor skills while also teaching children to share and wait their turn and play structures play a vital role in doing all of this.

How to Choose the right Playground Structure

Picking a playground set can be daunting due to the amount of products to pick from - you have to consider budget, theme, age group, material preference, inclusivity and size of your available area - these are all things we can help with. Our design team based in our Galway office have years of experience in playground design and can help you decide on the unit that best fits your needs.

    3. Who are the play systems for?

With our range of play sets we cater for all spaces, budgets and users. By installing a multi play unit you are ensuring the best use of your space and as each unit encourages activity and movement children of all ages will love it!

    4. Why is colour so important in a playground?

Colour is a silent language. It speaks to us all, telling us of dangers and delights. A baby doesn't recognise colour until it is about eight months old; from then on, colours play a vital role in their development.

Children are drawn in by bright primary colours. KOMPAN founder, and artist Tom Lindhardt, used yellow, blue, and red extensively in his early works, shunning green since he believed it was already there in the grass around the playground.
