Creating a uniting activity area in a new neighbourhood
Architects wanted to create something iconic for a new residential area. Together with KOMPAN they designed the centerpiece of the playground, an eye-catching Corocord Tower that has been customised to blend into the surrounding flora and fauna. Along with the playground, they built an innovative outdoor cross-training area, thus providing opportunities for the whole family. While children play on this extraordinary playground, parents can spend time on effective workout equipment. Between the playground and fitness area, Buxton Park truly provides something for all residents.
It has that sort of iconic nature about it, it's different and we've had just wonderful feedback from the community enjoying this playground.
Rihannon West, Assistant Development Manager - Lendlease
Iconic playground with lots of fun
A climb to the top of the green Corocord tower will challenge children to use their body strength, as well as their cross-coordination skills. This climb is then rewarded with a great view and a stomach-tickling ride back down. The swings are not only fun, but help train children’s agility, balance, and coordination. The basket swing also teaches the children social skills such as turn-taking and cooperation. The jumpers are fantastic for children's motor skills such as balance and rhythm, as well as a great way to build bone density, giving children stronger bones for life. Next to the playground, parents can enjoy an outdoor fitness area, with high quality and very effective fitness equipment. The Suspension Trainer on the sites provides 49 different exercises that increases strength, balance, flexibility and core stability.
