Added fitness value for an urban park
For Powlett Reserve, an urban park in Melbourne's inner-east, residents wanted a fitness solution that fit the ways they like to exercise. After community consultation, City of Melbourne found:
People are most likely to exercise in the morning, and alone, as opposed to with friends, family or a group.
The majority (98 out of 139) said they are likely to use outdoor exercise equipment.
The top 3 most requested types of equipment were street workout, cross training and dynamic strength/cardio.
Choosing to ensure the best fitness outcomes for residents, and following positive feedback surrounding the idea of dynamic, weighted equipment ("If [this kind of] equipment was installed, I'd regularly use it”) KOMPAN open-air fitness equipment was chosen to create a compact, yet diverse outdoor gym solution.
A solution for all users
The diverse mix of equipment in this solution allows users of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to have a challenging and enjoyable workout in the great outdoors.
The outdoor Strength fitness units offer weight resistance of up to 80kg, while the award-winning Cross Trainer Pro is comparable to indoor gym equipment with its touch screen, ergononic built and hardy materials. Steps and a stretch station allow for cross training, calisthenics and low-intensity exercises.
