Sandpit
Cognitive
sand play trains the sense of touch and helps children to understand the characteristics of different materials and their uses.
Sandpits are a playground favourite, which invites children to be creative and engage in sensory play. The four red seats or tables, provide children and carers with a firm base to sit on or to build their creations on. The four seats additionally give children the possibility of creating their own space, where they can have their home, shop or workshop. Sand invites deep play and educates children on the changeable character of sand as it goes from dry to wet. It additionally trains children's tactile senses which are essential life skills that help children to understand their surrounding world.
Play value is the value gained from play, the value that makes the child 'want' or developmentally 'need' to undertake the activity and thus gives the play item holding power. Play value can be described very precisely in developmental terms, looking into the human physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental stages.
