Set sail and embark on a voyage of fun!
The Swedish island of Öland has not seen pirates since the 13th Century, until recently. Luckily the new pirates proved friendly. The marauding vessel turned out to be Sweden’s largest play ship. The ship is now permanently ‘anchored’ in the popular playground at the beautiful Borgholm harbour. The small port wanted a unique playground that would tell its history and embrace the surroundings. The story of Swedish piracy is very equalitarian. Many of the most desperate, and successful, pirates were women. Fittingly, local girls join the boys for all-year-round fun, and at holiday time visitors climb on board.
I think it is fantastic, especially because it is a nice design. it is very similar to a ship. so it becomes very real for the children.

Fun for all ages
The large playground ship is an intense play vessel, that draws on children’s interest in exploration and adventure. The pirate ship playground has a rich variety of play activities that attract children of all ages and make them want to come back time and time again. The many climb-and-crawl activities motivate children to be physically active and train motor skills such as balance and cross-coordination. Thematized elements such as cannons and binoculars inspire the children to have dramatic play scenarios. These play scenarios help stimulate the children’s language development, as well as their cooperation and social skills.
