Brentwood Council were interested in creating a new leisure hub with a variety of activities, and an innovative new ‘pay-to-play’ area has opened in Brentwood, Essex.
Following presentations from several play equipment providers, Brentwood BC chose KOMPAN because they felt our design provided the ultimate ‘WOW’ factor for the park; something which is very different from the more traditional play areas in the vicinity.
The design features multiple play levels so that children of any age or ability can feel included within the unit. It helps to build confidence over time - allowing children to start off on the lower levels and gradually build up confidence and ability to be able to tackle the higher levels and climbing apparatus. The finished project is a giant bespoke Sky Walk, with additional Corocord elements added for extra play value. The play area currently takes up to 100 children (over 8s) in each 1-hour time slot, providing a safe environment for them to explore and have fun. The first month has seen over 3500 visitors to the park, and with options to pre-book or pay on the day, that’s a trend that is bound to continue as word of mouth spreads.
“WE WORKED VERY CLOSELY WITH KOMPAN ON THIS DESIGN, WHICH WE ARE ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED WITH BECAUSE THEY HAVE DELIVERED ON ALL OF THE POINTS THAT WE SPOKE ABOUT WITH THEM DURING THE VERY INITIAL CONVERSATIONS. WE LOVE IT!”
Ruth Ripsher, Business Development Manager, Alliance Leisure Services.
