Maximising Natural Spaces

Braniel Primary School reached out to KOMPAN with a vision to transform an unused, sloped woodland area into an engaging play space for their pupils. Although the hillside landscape posed unique design challenges, the school wanted to create an active play area that would blend with the surrounding natural scenery and feature a standout attraction for the children. At KOMPAN, no challenge is too small—whatever the landscape, we’re committed to creating extraordinary playground solutions. Our team embraced the opportunity, carefully designing a trim trail (agility trail) that follows the incline of the hill and leads up to a KOMPAN Jungle Dome, packed full with play opportunities and excitement. This new playground space is now a key part of school life, used daily during playtime, for after-school clubs, and by children of all ages.

A Natural Climbing Adventure

Climbing has always been a favourite activity among children, and at KOMPAN, we honour this tradition by continuously innovating to enhance the experience. Our Jungle Dome is framed with ROBINA, a robust and naturally resilient wood sourced from responsibly managed forests, where careful planting and harvesting create sustainable, long-lasting playgrounds. With no need for chemical preservatives, ROBINA blends seamlessly into natural landscapes, providing both strength and beauty.

The Jungle Dome’s large climbing structure challenges children physically and mentally. The interconnected nets respond to each climber’s movement, adding an element of shared balance and concentration. Every muscle group is engaged, and cross-coordination skills are strengthened, while the design encourages cooperation, turn-taking, and social interaction. The play shell and horizontal membrane offer rest spots along the climb, making the Jungle Dome a well-rounded adventure.
