Phased Development
Laygate Community School reached out to KOMPAN for guidance on enhancing their playground. After discussing various options, our team shared recommendations based on successful installations at other schools. Laygate embraced these ideas, starting with a phased development that began with two key pieces of equipment. Thanks to the positive experience and the enthusiasm generated by the initial installations, Laygate expressed interest in further expanding their fun and exciting playground, for all their students to enjoy.
“The impact on the children has been fantastic. Playtimes are much more fun and we have noticed a vast improvement in behaviour. The children are engaged in their play and social interactions are more positive. It is also lovely to see children in the ‘chill out area’ playing games with friends or lying on the seats reading, even the boys! It has been such a positive experience working with the team from KOMPAN. They have been highly professional, extremely patient and have accommodated our needs. I have no hesitation in recommending KOMPAN to other schools.”

Classroom crosses over to playground
KOMPAN’s BLOQX is ideal for teaching mathematics in the playground, and combined with the teaching material from KOMPAN, there is a clear link between motivation, learning and movement. The material can be used to teach mathematics in years 1-5. It builds a bridge between the classroom and playground. The unique tasks begin, for example, with the pupils measuring BLOQX’ geometric shapes. They use the results for the learning activities in the classroom. While pupils in years 2-3 work with geometry, for example by cutting and pasting 3D figures, older pupils work with topics like measurement and statistics.
The accompanying evaluation sheets make it easy for the teacher to assess the pupils’ work and see where they need support in their learning goals. They also give the pupils the opportunity to evaluate their own learning and set new goals.
